• Mission trip to Western NC

    november 2-5

    Pray for our mission team as they head to the Western NC mountains to continue in Hurricane Helene relief and rebuilding efforts.  This multi-generational group will be headed to the Spruce Pine area.  This team is the 3rd adult team dispatched from our church to this area.  The youth and young adults also traveled to the Asheville area over the summer.  1 year out and GCUMC is still #WNCSTRONG

      A festive start to the season of Advent! Bring the whole family (and a seasonal sweet to share) for an afternoon of advent crafts, games and more as we prepare our hearts and homes for the birth of our savior Jesus!

    This year's event will take place in the rooms upstairs in the Children's Building due to ongoing Fellowship Hall construction.

    Come out on Saturday November 8th to prep ~40k lbs of potatoes, sweet potatoes or apples for distribution to local food ministries.  Help community families have fresh produce this fall!

Wednesday Night OUTSIDE!


During the renovation of our Fellowship Hall building, our Wednesday nights will look a bit different--but we want to keep the fellowship and fun going during the process.  Join us monthly for Wednesday Night OUTSIDE: a fellowship meal on the back field followed by breakout groups for adults and our regularly scheduled Wednesday evening activities for kids and youth.   The fun starts at 6:00pm!

The 40-day season of Lent leading to Easter is upon us.  At GCUMC we believe in observing Lent with fasting, worship, prayer and giving.  Visit our Lent & Easter portal to find ways to engage your faith this season, as well as video resources to learn more about Lent and Holy Week practices.

  • Sunday April 20th:

    • Sunrise Service with Holy Communion- 6:45am, Front parking lot
    • Resurrection Sunday Worship with NC Brass- 9:00am, Sanctuary
    • Donuts, pastries, coffee and juice breakfast- 10:00am-10:40am, Fellowship Hall
    • Resurrection Sunday Worship* with NC Brass, children's worship and butterfly release- 11:00am, Sanctuary
    After each service there will be a photographer available to snap your family in their Easter best by our flower cross. 

    We will be taking a group photo immediately following the 11:00am service in front of the Sanctuary! Join us!

    Do you have some gorgeous spring blooms popping up? You're invited to bring flowers to place on our flower cross before or after any of our worship services.  A limited supply of fresh flowers will be available for those who need them.

  • We are so very glad you're considering joining us for some of our biggest celebrations of the year! You are wanted, welcome, and accepted in our church. 

    • What should I wear? While Easter Sunday is typically thought of as a time when people dress their very best, we have a range of dress at GCUMC.  You'll be right at home whether you come in jeans or a suit.  Feel free to have fun with your Easter attire!
    • Will I be greeted? We have greeters and parking lot assistants ready to help you find your way and a good seat.  We do have a short "fellowship greeting" within our service when people often shake hands and say "hi" to those around them, but we do not recognize or single out guests in any way during our services. 
    • What is the worship style? We have a blended service with a mix of traditional favorites and some more modern music.  You can expect some responsive liturgy, a stirring message, uplifting music and an offering.  
    • Will there be activities for my children? Yes! We love kids at GCUMC.  At the 11:00am service there will be a children's moment as well as special children's worship for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade.  A butterfly release is also planned immediately following the 11:00am service.  If you choose to keep your children with you in worship, that's fine too! We have worship bags to help keep our kids engaged during the service. Nursery is provided by professional staff for infants through age 4 at both the 9:00am and 11:00am services.
