beachtime!

It's amazing how invigorating it is to watch the tide wash the sand. Early last night the beach was covered with footprints and all kind of trash from the previous day - until the rising tide came in last night and washed everything clean. This morning as the sun came up it seemed as if no one had set foot in the space that just hours before had been covered by humanity.  The tide has an amazing capacity to clean and renew.

God was there this morning. The song says "morning by morning new mercies I see." Every day is a new opportunity to enjoy the fresh mercy and goodness of God... God comes in and washes our gritty lives and leaves an empty beach just waiting to be filled with activity, life, and relationships.

I know the folks over in the Gulf Coast wish it was that easy this morning. With all the crude oil washing up on their sand - the level of frustration and despair rises. A level of anger also rises as they wonder why no one comes to help clean up the mess.  Maybe that's an analogy of why the church exists in the world today. Sometimes our lives are so bruised or tarnished we just need a little help to get them restored. God is moving- washing - reclaiming with all the power available- but then he also calls His people to come with their hands and hearts to make a difference.  He is calling you and me to join in the cleansing process so that His fresh mercy can be experienced by everyone.

Don't miss your call today. God has given you extraordinary gifts to help reclaim the lives of others for the Kingdom. What a great purpose! What a great opportunity.

Does Easter Change Anything?

Billy Crystal starred in the comedy City Slickers, a move that exposed a midlife crisis of three men who were in search of themselves and their places in life. At one point in the movie, Crystal turns to his boss and says, “Have you ever reached a point in your life where you say to yourself, ‘This is the best I’m ever gonna look, this is the best I’m ever gonna feel, this is the best I’m ever gonna do, and it ain’t that great?” Later in the movie, his friend makes a similar assessment when he says, “At this point in life, where you are is where you are!”
The whole point of the resurrection is that God can resurrect our lives too! God can take our lives, and no matter where we are and where we’ve been, he can give us a new beginning. The Bible says, “Just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may live a new life.” (Rom. 6:4) God wants to take our past mistakes, our past failures, even our past sins, and give us a new beginning. If it “ain’t been that great” up till now – perhaps a new beginning is what we need.
The power of the resurrection provides power for living, hope for the future, and new beginnings for all of us…. so come and join the celebration this week…. it might just be the catalyst for the new life you’ve been waiting to live

HOPE.  Only Christ is capable of offering true hope to human hearts in our hurting world.
And he has entrusted His message of hope to His people.  Pushing back the darkness of human
depravity, the church of Jesus Christ has the power to redeem and restore this world for God.  Without personal agenda, they break through barriers to extend His love to those still far from Him. They illuminate the path toward eternal transformation through faith in Jesus Christ.  When the Church gets it right… hearts are transformed, souls are set on a passionate blaze, the potential of every individual to experience healing and wholeness is lifted high; and communities are changed for the better.
That’s why Guilford College Church considers it a great privilege to hold up a vision that every
Christ follower – might reach their full redemptive value as we yield all that we are/have to be used for God’s glory. The world is tired of mediocrity; empty words; lifeless faith. The world is literally dying for what the local church has to offer.  This is our time. This is our mission. This will be our passion till Christ returns!
