Counseling and Support
Congregational Care pastors are available to meet with individuals, couples, or families. In addition, our connections in the Triad can help identify mental health clinicians/agencies that work with issues related to relationship struggles, grief, financial hardship, abuse, domestic violence, and other life challenges. For assistance, call the church office at
292-5833. We will help you make the necessary contacts.
Living Forward Classes
Throughout the year our Congregational Care Team leads special classes and workshops on a variety of topics designed to address the physical, spiritual, and emotional concerns of our congregation. You can learn about the classes by calling the church at 292-5833.
Baptism
Holy Baptism is a covenant between an individual and God. Persons of all ages can be baptized at our church. You can learn more about Baptism by attending our "Starting Point" class or calling the office to schedule a time to talk with one of our pastors.
Prayer
Every ministry begins with prayer. Our Prayer Team leads the congregation to focus on prayer as the heartbeat of our faith and life together. They meet on a regular basis to intercede for all the concerns and needs brought to their attention.
Learn more about prayer by checking out the Virtual Prayer Room on this website.
Prayer Requests can be made by filling out a request form during worship on Sundays, by calling the office, or by using the on-line form in the Virtual Prayer Room.
Pastors are available to pray with you and your family before surgery or during hospitalization. Please contact a Lay Minister with the date, time, and hospital where you will be having your surgery.
The Prayer Room is open daily for quiet prayer from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays following the worship services.
Congregational Care Ministers
If you are interested in becoming a part of the Congregational Care Team, you may contact one of our pastors who will share the training requirements and additional studies required to serve in this ministry. Call the church office at 292-5833.
Stephen Ministers are lay caregivers who provide one-on-one Christian care to the hospitalized, separated, divorced, bereaved, grieving, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Trained to objectively listen and offer responsive encouragement in a confidential environment gives way to healing and hope.
If you are desiring a Stephen Minister to walk with you through a challenging season, please call Donna Ford at 292-5833 and she will arrange a contact.
Support Groups
Support Groups are an extension of Caring Ministries that provide ongoing support, comfort, and compassion for people dealing with a wide-range of life situations including addictions, illnesses, employment transitions, grief and loss.
All of the support groups at GCUMC are open to the community. You are welcome to attend anytime! Please call the contact person for further information about the group.
