Adult

At Guilford College United Methodist Church, our purpose is to meet people where they are and assist them in their spiritual journey towards a Christ-Centered life.  Nothing will bring you greater joy, challenge, or meaning than The Journey into life as God intended us to live it.  While The Journey towards a Christ-Centered life is a life-long process, there are some definable traits that paint a picture of what we mean by “a Christ-Centered Disciple.”  This is the goal for every individual who longs for deep intimacy with the Father.  Click here for more information on The Journey

To assist you in your journey toward Christ-Centered living, we have a faith development plan which contains over 200 titles and suggested studies for faith formation.  This plan provides direction in identifying and selecting resources to help individuals and groups move along the spiritual journey toward life as Christ-Centered Disciples.  To view the GCUMC Adult Faith Development Plan, click here.

In addition to The Journey learning opportunities, we believe that God created our faith journey to be shared - with God and with others.  Christ-Centered Disciples connect with others by serving and
caring for one another through the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Below are some of the opportunities to help you along your journey with God.

Church School
Adult Sunday morning classes are open to all adults in the church.  Classes enjoy Biblically-based studies, discussion, fellowship, and service opportunities.  For a description of classes and current studies, please

Bible Studies
Bible studies help us grow deeper along our journey toward Christ-Centered living.  Some of the studies we offer are short-term studies; others are more in-depth.  Some are offered during the day; others are offered in the evenings.  Some are gender specific; some are not.  Long-term studies such as DISCIPLE Bible studies begin in September.  Other studies begin and end throughout the year.  Check the Upcoming Events in the upper right corner of this page for current study offerings.

Small Groups

In small groups, lives are transformed when people connect together to pray, to study, to engage in fellowship, or to work on a specific mission or ministry.

Dinner groups meet once every 6 weeks for dinner and discussion.

ChristCare groups provide an opportunity to connect with others who seek to study God’s Word together, pray and worship, share the gospel, and discover meaningful ways to use their gifts in mission and ministry.

Men – Bible studies, fellowship and service opportunities for men.

Women – Bible studies, fellowship and service opportunities for women.

Recreation Ministry – We currently offer softball and basketball teams for adults.  Come and join the fun!

Mature Adults – For adults age 55 and older, our Senior Prom ministry meets once a month.  These mature adults enjoy meals and fellowship, enriching programs, and several day trips each year.  Many Senior Prom members participate in the Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro – a ministry which helps older adults in our community.

Family Ministry
Our intergenerational events provide resources, education, fellowship, and support for families to grow in faith together.  Events include family picnic, movie nights, game nights, Fall Festival, Advent festival, Lent festival, Easter Egg-Stravaganza, Easter celebration, parenting seminars, and more.

Wednesday Night Out – A delicious fellowship meal is provided on Wednesday nights throughout the school year.  Dinner is served from 5:15 until 6:30 p.m.  Special entrée each week; kids’ menu available.
