Tom came to our church in 2007. He has served in local churches for 35 years. Along the way Tom has also served as a hospital chaplain at NC Baptist Hospital, a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force, and an Associate Chaplain with Motor Racing Outreach Ministries to the Nascar Community.
Tom has a passion for growing the Kingdom of God by sharing the transforming love of Christ, encouraging believers to spiritual maturity, and positioning the church to be relevant in today’s culture. Matt couldn’t be more proud and excited to have joined the staff at Guilford College in July 2013. A graduate of UNC-Wilmington and Wesley Theological Seminary of Washington DC, Matt continues to seek new ways to learn and grow. He has worked in churches for 12 years, including the last five years as the Associate Pastor at Cashiers UMC. Matt, his wife Joanna, and their two boys, Simon and David, are glad to have traded the mountains for the gently-rolling hills of Greensboro. When not at work, Matt likes to run, read and watch movies.

Director of Christian Education
Donna joined the staff in 1999 and feels blessed to be in ministry here. She is responsible for overseeing the educational needs of all ages in the church, including Nursery, Sunday School, Curriculum and Resources, Confirmation, Children’s Ministry, and Adult Bible studies. She is also a Stephen Ministry Leader. Donna attended UNC-G and completed graduate studies in Christian Education at Pfeiffer University. She is Certified in Christian Education by The United Methodist Church and is a member of Christian Educators Fellowship. She also serves on the Western North Carolina Conference Deaf Ministry Board of Directors.
Donna loves living her passion through her vocational call to ministry, and is enthusiastic about nurturing a life-changing, transforming faith in God’s children of all ages. Donna enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, playing golf, and providing visits to hospital patients and a children's reading program with her therapy dog. Director of Youth Ministry
Robert has been in ministry with GCUMC since January 2012, but he's been in youth ministry for 7 years. He earned a B.A. in English from Appalachian State and a M. Div. from Wake Forest University Divinity School.
Robert gets excited about social justice ministries and has a passion for pointing people towards Jesus' vision for the Kingdom of God on earth. He loves to nurture youth on their spiritual journeys and to see them embodying the gospel with their lives. He likes to hike, ride his road bike, play and coach basketball, and read. Robert has just recently married Shannon and the two of them are excited about the life that lies ahead of them and, especially, the ways that God will use them at GCUMC. Director of Music and Worship
Dr. Melanie Austin Crump, a native of High Point, North Carolina, has taught vocal and choral music since 1999, and moved into Higher Education in 2004. Since 2006, she received three sequential nominations for the “Excellence in Teaching Award,” and in 2010 was honored with the “Teacher of the Year” accolade for the School of Arts and Science at Mount Olive College. Melanie earned three of her degrees from Appalachian State University (BM in General Music, MM in Choral Directing, MM in Vocal Performance) and her terminal degree in vocal performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Melanie continues to perform locally and has been featured as the guest soloist in venues throughout North Carolina. She also serves as a vocal instructor in the Department of Music at High Point University. Melanie resides in Colfax with her husband Scott and their three children, Watson, Lillie and Parran.
Director of Children's Choirs
Dena is the director of Children’s Choirs and joined our staff in 2007. She earned a BA in Music from the University of LaVerne, CA and a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA with an emphasis in choral conducting. In addition she holds several certifications in Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly and Kindermusik. Dena is also the Director of Choirs at Northwest Middle School where she directs 8 choirs, serves on the Leadership Team and was Teacher of the Year at Northwest Middle in 2004. She is a prolific writer and has published over 50 books and other teacher aides in the last five years. She is an active clinician across the US in training teachers of young children. Dena has three sons, Mark, Marlin, Mitch, and a fuzzy white Maltese, Lucas. In her free time she reads, walks the beach and travels, and is especially fond of good hot coffee and any kind of chocolate.
Chris holds a B.M. in Music Composition from Florida State University and an M.F.A. in Film Music Composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Music Composition for Visual Media at the University of California, Los Angeles. Chris has composed music for film, television, video games, ballet, theatre, sacred music, and concert music; and is currently the Chair of Film Music Composition at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He has worked for many years as Director of Music and Accompanist for several churches in the United Methodist faith. Chris also sings with the Piedmont Chamber Singers as Tenor Section Leader. Apart from piano, organ and voice, he also plays clarinet, saxophones, flute, guitar, bass guitar, and various types of accordion. Chris joined the GCUMC staff in September 2013.
Director of Weekday Preschool
Dana received her degree in Early Childhood Education from Miramar College, San Diego, California. She has attended, as well as conducted, several early childhood workshops throughout her career in the child development field. Besides directing, Dana has taught ages 14 months through Pre-Kindergarten, and was an Educational Coordinator for several years. Dana feels it is important to keep in touch with your “inner child," and does so by working in the classroom every summer at GCUMC Preschool. Dana moved to North Carolina several years ago, and is proud to call Greensboro "home." Dana enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and being outdoors. Amy Wall joined the church staff in 2016 as the Church Administrator. She and her family have been members of Guilford College UMC since 2011. Amy is a Guilford College graduate and has a Masters of Christian Education from Pfeiffer University. She was on the staff of her previous church for over 13 years in Youth and Christian Education Ministries and has served in several volunteer capacities while at GCUMC. She loves spending time with her husband, Randy, and their two children, Rachel and Zachary. Amy enjoys baking, playing games, reading and travel in addition to being a theatre and soccer Mom. Gloria is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of North Carolina, currently with an inactive status. She graduated from UNC-G with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She lives in High Point with her husband and two children ages 14 and 7. She has been a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in High Point since 1996. She was a stay-at-home mom for eight years before coming to work at Guilford College UMC in September, 2008. She loves working in a Christ-centered environment and feels everyone, staff and congregation, are true servants of God. She enjoys coming to work and using her gifts to serve Christ. Carol has worked in our office over a decade and serves as our Receptionist and Administrative Assistant as well as Membership Secretary and editor of the church’s bi-weekly newsletter.
Carol is a native of High Point, NC. She graduated from North State Business College with an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science, and was employed as Administrative Assistant at High Point Public Library for 17 years. She has been a member of GCUMC for 35 years, and prior to working in the church office was employed as teacher in the Crib/Toddler room of GCUMC Weekday Preschool. Christian Education Assistant
Becky joined the church staff in 2016 as the Christian Education Assistant. She and her family have been members of Guilford College UMC since 2000. Becky graduated from UNCG with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She has retired from teaching after 31 years in the classroom. Becky has taught various levels of Sunday school for the past 20 years. She has 4 children and 1 granddaughter. Becky enjoys baking cookies, reading to children, and playing games. She enjoys working with children and their families and sharing God’s word. Becky is excited about the opportunity to work in her church home and follow God’s calling to serve.
